NIS America has not announced a western release for Kuro no Kiseki, but the PC version and its announcement suggest a western release is possible some time after the launch of The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie in July.

Kuro no Kiseki introduces a dual real-time and turn-based combat system, with players able to switch between the two modes, as well as a Law, Gray, and Chaos alignment system. The game is set in the diverse Calvard Republic, the eastern neighbour and superpower rival to the Erebonian Empire that was the setting for the Trails of Cold Steel subseries. It takes place a year after the events of the previous title, Trails into Reverie, and two years after the events of Trails of Cold Steel III and IV. The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki was originally released for PlayStation 4 in Japan in 2021, with a PlayStation 5 version released in 2022. It is a separate release to Clouded Leopard Entertainment’s Chinese and Korean PC release.

The Japanese PC version includes arbitrary resolution and aspect ratio support, high frame rate support, a field of view setting, a variety of graphical options, and full mouse and keyboard support. The PC version is available on Steam and was worked on by PH3 GmbH, which also worked on the PC and Switch versions of Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure and the PC versions of Trails of Cold Steel III and IV. NIS America announced it has released a Japanese PC version of Nihon Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki.
